'I am feeling bored, what do I do now' is the oft-quoted question running through every human mind when he gets a little of leisure time. Has boredom crept into our mundane lives so much that we fail to enjoy our leisure or is it that we are so occupied with work that when we get spare time, we feel our life has come to a standstill. Why is there a continuous desire to keep doing something always, maybe its an identity crisis, maybe it's an urge to keep doing something to prove to oneself and everybody around. Are we afraid to face ourselves the few minutes we get? I am sure boredom did not even exist in our forefather's dictionaries, but it is a common phrase of every person today.
I myself have never heard of such nomenclature in my childhood. Where was the time to get bored ? My parents had taught me to enjoy my moments of sheer emptiness. Hence I view boredom not as a prolonged, agonizing nothingness, but as an attempt to find beauty in the non-space of work. What a joy it feels when we are just waiting for absolutely nothing to happen. It is pleasure to just sit back and enjoy the beautiful ideas floating by or maybe just bask in the glory of chirping birds, the setting sun, and the rustling leaves or maybe just listen to my inner soul which lost it serene voice in the frantic pace of modern life. No wonder ennui has its own moments of unraveled beauty........

I agree.
When someone asks, "What are you doing?"
Most people are scared (including me)to reply, "Nothing", even when that is the fact.
Success today is not having time for oneself. Being at work late into the night. Travelling on holidays. Everything has to be planned. Even vacations are tightly planned.
Often, time is equated with money and money obviously with success. Enjoying the smell of earth during rain, the beauty of the setting sun, walking barefoot on dew laden grass are all passe. These are all equated with idleness. And since time is money, idleness is poverty and failure.
This rat race has practically made most of us zombies. That perhaps is the reason we feel bored, when we get leisure time.
TV, internet, mobiles are actually invading into even our family time. So, instead of enjoying leisure time with our family or enjoying natural beauty, we get bored.
Ennui is becoming part and parcel of modern life.
The Cliche- welcome to the blogger.
One of my friend use to live in Vizag for sometimes and he was like in love with city, I am typically too north-indianish, so I thought what the heck about the madras(yes entire south is madras to me!), but the snaps of Vizag on ur blog are beautiful, hope i see Vizag someday.
waise boredom is so boring. why to even talk(yawnnnn.....)
i feel "ennui" is found in the dictionary of the people who does not
know the value and meaning of being alone. as you said, i dont want to say ennui, but i will say when i am off my bread earning ordeal, ennui or
in my words being alone has it's own
unraveled and unearthed beauties and
treasures.Especially it gives an opportunity to know and understand
oneself. apne aap ke andar jhaank ke
dekhni ki aur jaan ne ki.
